Re-election of Singapore to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Council

Singapore was successfully re-elected to the Council of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) for a 17th consecutive term. The election took place during the 34th Session of the IMO Assembly, held in London, United Kingdom on 28 November 2025. Singapore was first elected to the IMO Council in 1993 and has since been re-elected to the Council at subsequent biennial IMO Assemblies. Singapore has played an active role within the organisation as an IMO Council Member, contributing significantly to initiatives that enhance navigational safety for the international maritime community, promote efficient and sustainable shipping practices, and protect the marine environment.

The Pro-Enterprise Panel - Singapore Business Federation (PEP-SBF) Awards celebrate public and private sector contributions towards creating a pro-enterprise regulatory environment through a biennial survey. MPA received the Pro-Enterprise Survey Award, recognising agencies that performed well in promoting business-friendly regulations. Only three agencies received this prestigious recognition: MPA, SCDF, and SLA, highlighting MPA's commitment to supporting enterprise growth and maintaining regulatory excellence that facilitates business operations in Singapore's maritime sector.
Pro-Enterprise Impact and Partnership Award

The Pro-Enterprise Impact and Partnership Award recognises outstanding collaboration between private and public sectors in creating business-friendly environments. MPA received this award for successfully partnering with IMDA and M1 to implement comprehensive 5G mobile network coverage across Singapore's major anchorages, fairways, terminals, and boarding grounds. This innovative public-private collaboration demonstrates how government agencies can work effectively with private companies to enhance maritime infrastructure and connectivity, supporting Singapore's position as a leading global port through advanced digital technology implementation.
23rd ShipTek International Awards Singapore 2025

The ShipTek International Maritime Awards (SIMA), organised annually since 2008, recognises dedicated organisations and individuals contributing to maritime industry development. MPA won the Corporate Social Responsibility Award based on multiple green initiatives implemented to reduce the environmental impact of shipping and related activities while promoting clean and green shipping practices in Singapore. This recognition highlights MPA's commitment to environmental sustainability and leadership in driving the maritime sector's transition towards more eco-friendly operations and practices.

The annual AFLAS Awards, organised by Asia Cargo News, honour leading supply chain service providers demonstrating leadership, service quality consistency, innovation, customer relationship management, and reliability. Winners are determined by reader votes. The Port of Singapore was named "Best Global Seaport" (fourth time) and "Best Seaport in Asia" (37th time) at the Hong Kong ceremony on 3 September. These accolades recognise Singapore's leadership in maritime transformation, decarbonisation, and consistent global supply chain contributions, reflecting dedication from international partners, research communities, maritime workforce, and unions. Awards are based on votes from over 15,000 logistics sector readers.

World’s First Use of Ammonia as a Marine Fuel
The Public Sector Transformation (PST) Awards represent the Whole-of-Government pinnacle platform recognising public officers and agencies for excellence in work and organisational practices. The awards encourage PST pursuit by celebrating best practices, desired behaviours, and underlying values. MPA won two Dare to Do Awards at the 8 July 2025 ceremony: Er. Tham Wai Wah for individual excellence, and the “World's First Use of Ammonia as a Marine Fuel” trial (multi-agency collaboration with MHA, MOM, NEA, SCDF, SPF). The Dare to Do Award recognises courage to experiment without precedence, take measured risks, and persevere through difficulties and setbacks.

The Most Fearless Project: Digitalising the Bunkering Industries
The 3rd PST Ideathon x IdeasFest was organised by MND, MOT and MSE with PSD on 23 May 2025 at MDDI Forum, with HCS as Guest-of-Honour and attendance from ministry headquarters and statutory board leaders. MPA showcased digitalisation and decarbonisation projects demonstrating future port operations to fellow public servants. Participants voted across three categories, with MPA winning two awards: "Maritime Digital Twin" for Most Wildfire Project and "Digitalising the Bunkering Industries" for Most Fearless Project, highlighting MPA's innovation leadership in transforming maritime operations through digital technologies and sustainable practices.
